Tuesday, July 4, 2017 – Annual Independence Day Parade, Celebrate Bristol Star Spangled Bristol/Fourth Border Bash, and Downtown Fireworks.
Tuesday, July 4, 2017 – Annual Independence Day Parade, Celebrate Bristol Star Spangled Bristol/Fourth Border Bash, and Downtown Fireworks. For the parade in Tennessee: Parking in the northern parking lot of the Downtown Center (the portion accessed from State Street) will be blocked at 1:45 p.m. On-street parking along the parade route (West State Street between Bob Morrison Boulevard and Commonwealth Avenue/Volunteer Parkway and State Street between Volunteer Parkway/Commonwealth Avenue and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard) will be blocked off, starting at 2:00 p.m. Bob Morrison Boulevard will be closed at 3:00 p.m. for parade staging. The parade along the parade route will start at 5:00 p.m. and the streets along the parade route will be closed to traffic from just before 5:00 p.m. until the clean-up after the parade ends is complete.
For the parade and Celebrate Bristol/Fourth Border Bash /Downtown Fireworks in Virginia: Lee Street between Cumberland Street and Scott Street will be closed at 6:00 a.m., as well as the Cumberland Square Park parking lot and the gravel “juror lot” on the southeastern corner of Lee Street and Scott Street. Scott Street between Lee Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard will also be closed at 6:00 a.m. On-street parking spaces on both sides of Cumberland Street between Piedmont Avenue and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard; both sides of Birthplace of Country Music Way; and on Lee Street south of Cumberland Street are blocked, starting at 2:00 p.m. Bob Morrison Boulevard will be closed at 3:00 p.m. for parade staging. Those roadways along the parade route are closed just before the parade begins at 5:00 p.m.; Cumberland Street west of Moore Street re-opens as soon as parade clean-up is over. At 8:00 p.m., Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard is closed from State Street to West Mary Street. The fireworks launch is scheduled for about 10:15 p.m. Handicapped parking will be provided in the Bristol Virginia City Hall parking lot off of Lee Street north of Scott Street. All the streets will be re-opened after event clean-up is complete.
