04/06/18 Nominate Steele Creek Park in Disney Competition

For the fourth year in a row, the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) is collaborating with The Walt Disney Company to help fund local park improvement projects across the country though the national “Meet Me at the Park” Earth Month campaign. The city that receives the most nominations will receive a $20,000 grant to improve a local park.

Parks are essential to our city’s health and wellbeing. That is why during the month of April Bristol residents will have the opportunity to nominate our city to receive $20,000 in grant funding to make improvements at Steele Creek Park.

Park supporters can nominate Steele Creek Park by visiting NRPA.org/Disney through the month of April. Everyone who nominates a city will be entered into a drawing to win a GoPro Prize Pack.

“As Bristol grows, so should our natural spaces. When coming to Steele Creek Park you will always see something new or different, whether it be the change of the seasons being reflected in the beautiful trees or something man-made such as the new splash pad or the newly expanded Nature Center. This park is always evolving,” said Terry Napier, Director of the City’s Parks and Recreation program. “We have been able to do so much through a number of diverse resources and contributions. Winning this contest would allow us to do so much more and continue to grow this park that everyone loves so much.”

Lori Robertson, NRPA Director of Conservation said, “At NRPA we believe everyone deserves a great park. That’s why we’re proud to collaborate with The Walt Disney Company on this campaign.  Everyone is encouraged to join us in giving back to the places that shape so much of our lives by participating in this year’s campaign. A nomination for your favorite park is all it takes.”

Encourage your friends to nominate Steele Creek Park by taking a selfie at their favorite location in the park and using the hashtags #MeetMeAtThePark, #Parkies and # CelebrateEarth.
