- All traffic signal systems are being upgraded with LED lighting which reduces energy use by 90%. 186 traffic signal heads and 22 school flashing beacons have been upgraded so far, representing approximately 50% of the total to be completed.

- Implementation of electronic submission of building permit applications which has reduced, or in many cases eliminated, the paper copies of applications and reduced the number of trips to the inspection office for submission and return to actually secure the permit.

- Use of E-Gov for zoning designation inquiries has eliminated production of paper maps and zoning forms as replies are emailed to the person making the inquiry.
- Use of technology in the field to reduce unnecessary trips to consummate business in the office (BMP).
- Trip planning/route maximization when scheduling of inspections and site visits to reduce mileage and fuel utilization (BMP).
- Energy efficiency standards have been adopted and are enforced through the 2006 International Energy Code and the 2006 Residential Code.
- Six Energy Star compliant servers have been installed for EDP applications (BMP).
- Over 200 CRT monitors have been upgraded with Energy Star compliant LCD displays (BMP).
- Equipping of city vehicles with LED emergency light bars that allow operation with the vehicle turned off (BMP).
- Four day work weeks have been instituted, and will be expanded, when practical (BMP).
- Dual monitors are in use by staff that routinely works with complex financial spreadsheets from multiple source documents to minimize data printing.
- Implementation of a policy to turn vehicles off and avoid unnecessary idling whenever possible (BMP).
- Imaging technology for document storage is being used for maintenance and retrieval of important records (BMP).
