Solid Waste

The Solid Waste Section provides weekly curbside collection of household refuse, brush and bulk items. Curbside collection of loose leaves is also provided from October through December. Regulations concerning what items are appropriate for collection, separation of waste materials and placement can be found under the Solid Waste Control Digest. The Solid Waste Division also operates the city's Demolition Landfill.

Residential Solid Waste Disposal

Responsibilities

If you are a residential property owner or tenant, you are responsible for disposing of litter, trash, junk, etc., from your:

  • 1/2 of alleys
  • Curbs or right-of-way up to the edge of the pavement of a public street
  • Driveways
  • Grass strips
  • Sidewalks
  • Vacant land
  • Yards

Curbside Collection

Garbage and other refuse is collected once each week on the curbside. Set containers out on regular collection days at an easily accessible place on the premises in plain view from the street at a distance of not more than 2 feet from the street.

Place containers and materials for collection at curbside by 6 a.m. on the regular collection day, and no earlier than 5 p.m. on the day preceding the collection day. Collection of yard debris and junk are scheduled for collection on the same day as the regular garbage collection day.
