While the Bristol MPO does not receive funding through the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement (CMAQ) Program, the MPO does monitor air quality in the region and works with its state agency partners to identify opportunities to reduce and mitigate transportation-related emissions in the region. Environmental quality is also one of the core planning factors for the MPO and plays a role in guiding the selection and development of transportation projects in the MPO's planning area.
You may have seen the Air Quality Index reported in your newspaper. The index was developed to help you determine ways to protect your family’s health when ozone levels reach the unhealthy range, and ways you can help reduce ozone air pollution. A snapshot of the Air Quality Index for major locations in our planning area are captured in the widgets on the right.
