Boards & Commissions
There are over 20 boards and commissions in the City of Bristol, TN that fall under the City Council's purview. These boards deal with virtually every public policy area and interact with every city agency. They are a vital part of the City government, making critical policy decisions and advising the City Council and agencies on a wide range of pressing issues. Boards are composed of a combination of citizens, government employees, and policy experts – all individuals that work tirelessly to serve the city.

Bristol First Serving with P.R.I.D.E
Nomination process for City Employees that go above and beyond their job duties. Employees are the City’s most valuable asset and play a critical role in contributing to the attainment of the Council’s goals, objectives and mission. The City of Bristol recognizes the importance of motivating, rewarding and developing employees. As such, this program has been developed to recognize individual and team efforts, and to encourage and empower employees to work to the fullest extent of their capabilities.

City Council
The City Council is the governing body of the City of Bristol. The Council consists of 5 members, 3 of whom are elected from 3 council districts by the eligible voters of the city at large and 2 of whom are elected to at-large seats by the eligible voters of the city at large. Council members are elected on a non-partisan basis for a staggered 4 year term of office.

Communiversity
The program began as a way to educate citizens about its local government. A secondary reason for hosting the citizens' academy was to increase interest and education in City government encouraging them to serve on one of the City's boards and commissions.

History of Bristol
Find out more about the City of Bristol that was founded on a low hill between the rivers Frome and Avon at some time before the early 11th century. ... Men, women and children captured in Wales or northern England were traded through Bristol to Dublin as slaves. From there the Viking rulers of Dublin would sell them on throughout the known world.
