The Boy Scouts of America Explorer Program is open to males and females ages 14 - 21 who are interested in law enforcement as a career. The program allows youth to work with police to learn about law enforcement as an occupation. The volunteers also make valuable contributions.
Participants compete in explorer contests on a local and regional basis. The program's success has led to new explorer posts with several fire departments and an attorney's office.
Applicant must be at least in the 8th grade and maintain a minimum scholastic average of 2.0. The applicant must be of good moral character and free of any arrest or conviction record. Parental approval is required. Regular attendance at meetings and functions is also required.
