The most popular activity at the park is the Steele Creek Express with more than 18,000 riders per year. This 24 gauge replica of a real steam engine dates back to the park opening in 1964. The train and track were completely renovated in 2007 and 2008 and continues to operate Memorial Day through Labor Day.
The train depot is a small wooden structure built by the Tennessee High School Shop Class. This serves as the ticket window and concession stand. The train tunnel is a 10 by 80-foot block and wood structure that also serves as storage for the train when not in use.
For generations, park-goers have lined up to take a ride on the Steele Creek Express. Grandparents who first rode the train in the early '60s and '70s have shared those special memories with their kids and now their grandkids. Sit back and take in all the sights as you travel lakeside back to yesteryear.
