[ARCHIVED] Bristol, Tennessee names new Director of Community Relations

Jon Luttrell has been named as the new Director of Community Relations for the City of Bristol, Tennessee. In this role, he will oversee all aspects of the City’s communications, public relations and marketing strategy. A native of Bristol, Luttrell began his career with the City in early 2016 as a Public Relations Specialist in the Department of Community Relations. He served in that capacity until September of 2018 when he joined the Department of Economic Development as Business Development Specialist.

In his prior Community Relations role, Luttrell assisted with the development and implementation of the City’s new branding in 2017. He served as Producer for multiple BTN-TV programs and oversaw the redesign of the City’s Slater Center television studio. Luttrell has also helmed Bristol’s popular Hiring Expo since the event’s inception in 2016. In Economic Development, he has provided support on grant submissions, site visits and multiple workforce development initiatives. He has also represented Bristol at statewide conferences and trainings on topics such as young talent recruitment and business marketing and attraction.

“Bristol has a remarkable story to tell, both here locally and to the rest of the world. It’s perhaps now more vital than ever that we use our voice to tell that story loudly and proudly and to keep our community engaged,” said Luttrell. He added, “We can accomplish that with communication that is accurate, accessible and authentic, and by collaborating with all of our regional partners to keep building momentum.”

Luttrell is a member of the Public Relations Society of America, Engaging Local Government Leaders, the Tennessee Economic Development Council and the City-County Communications and Marketing Association, for which he has previously served as an annual conference presenter. Additionally, he is a member of the Bristol Morning Rotary Club and was named to the 2018 class of the 40 under Forty by the Business Journal of the Tri-Cities TN/VA. Luttrell holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Clemson University, a Master of Business Administration from King University and a Master of Public Administration from Clemson University. He is currently pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Marketing Management and Digital Strategy from Harvard University.
