Lea Powers was elected to City Council in 2013. In July 2014 Powers was selected to serve as Mayor through June 2016. Previous to assuming that role she served as Vice-Mayor from July 2013 through June 2014. Lea is the Financial and Operations officer for Burke, Powers and Harty, Inc., an insurance agency owned by her family. She and her husband Rush have three grown children. Her education includes an undergraduate degree in Education and a Masters of Education Administration. She has served as the President of the Junior League of Bristol and is the recipient of the Sue Merrill Shawl Memorial Award for Volunteerism. She serves on the Bristol Speech and Hearing Board, Girl’s Inc. Board, Fund Raiser for Healing Hands Health Care Center and is a member of the Bristol Rotary Club. She is also a member of Central Presbyterian Church. Lea’s focus as a business owner, is to provide outstanding services and marketing Bristol to its full potential in an effort to drive greater Economic Development and employment for the region.
